Live wall guide

How to set up and run the Spry live wall at your venue.

What is the live wall?

The live wall is a fullscreen display of approved guest photos and short looping videos. It's designed for TVs, projectors, and large monitors at your venue.

As guests capture moments on their phones and the host approves them, new tiles appear on the wall within seconds — creating a real-time, crowd-sourced mosaic of the event.

Setting up the wall
  1. In the host dashboard, open your event and click Open live wall.
  2. Drag the browser window to your display/TV, or connect via HDMI.
  3. Press F11 (or your browser's fullscreen button) for a clean view.
  4. Make sure the wall toggle is enabled in the event hub.

The wall URL is unique to your event: /?e=your-event-slug. Bookmark it for easy access.

Real-time updates

The wall connects to the database via Supabase Realtime. When a host approves a moment in the moderation queue, it appears on the wall almost instantly.

A green pulsing dot in the header means the connection is live. If it turns amber, the wall is reconnecting — it will keep showing the last good mosaic while it recovers.

Getting guests to join

The footer shows a call-to-action: “Scan to join.” Print QR codes from the dashboard (Print assets page) and place them on tables and at the entrance.

The guest counter in the header shows how many people are playing. Seeing this number climb encourages more guests to join.

Troubleshooting
  • Empty wall? Make sure the host has approved some uploads in the moderation queue.
  • Wall not updating? Check the connection dot. Refresh the page if it stays amber.
  • Wrong event? Verify the URL slug matches your event.
  • Wall disabled? The host can toggle the wall off in the event hub.
